PNP reminds public to stay vigilant

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, Sept. 3 (PIA --- The Philippine National Police (PNP) here is reminding the public to be vigilant and practice security procedures at home.

Police officer (PO) 3 Isnaira M. Lucman of the Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Office (LSPPO) Community Relations Unit said that crimes occur because the public open themselves and their homes to criminal opportunities.

She reiterated that crime prevention is everybody’s responsibility and should start with oneself.

Lucman thus reminded the public to be extra cautious to avoid becoming a crime victim as she provided crime prevention tips during PIA’s Ozor ka, Ranao! radio program on Monday, September 1.

She also urged the public to report to the police authorities any suspicious individuals and activities in their respective areas.

Lucman said PNP stations across the province are open 24/7 to serve the public.

The first week of September has been declared as National Crime Prevention Week (NCPW) pursuant to Proclamation No. 461 to generate community awareness on the importance of crime prevention.

The theme for this year’s NCPW observance is “Krimen ay Labanan, Karapatan ay Igalang Tungo sa Mapayapang Pamayanan.” (APB/PIA-10)
