PIA, PBS launch “Osor ka, Ranao!” radio program

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, Nov. 5 (PIA) --- The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) in partnership with Philippine Broadcasting Service (PBS) Radyo ng Bayan launched a one-hour radio program in the province Monday, November 4.

The program dubbed “Osor ka, Ranao!” aims to provide the people in the province with information on the efforts of the government to bring development and prosperity in the area.

“Osor ka, Ranao!” is a Maranao phrase which means to strive for development and prosperity in the province, a concept that PIA and PBS want to highlight throughout the duration of the program.

The radio program will be heard from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. every first and third Monday of the month over DxSO Radyo ng Bayan Marawi.

In his message during the launching, PIA Director General Jose Mari Oquiñena said the radio program is open to support and help the provincial and city government as well as government agencies in the province in promoting their various programs and projects for the development of the entire province.

He also cited that the title of the radio program is fitting because it is what the President has always wanted and is doing not only in the Lanao province but also for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and the entire country.

For his part, PBS Director Tito Cruz reiterated that the radio program will not cater to the idea of bad news.

He said “Osor ka, Ranao!” will air development programs and projects being implemented by the government so that the people in the province will know that there are also good things happening in the country and in the communities.

“Osor ka, Ranao!” is an off-shoot of the “Lambo Dyes!” radio program of PIA and PBS Radyo ng Bayan in Cagayan de Oro City. “Lambo” is a Cebuano term which also means development.

Cruz hopes that similar radio programs of PIA and PBS will also be aired in other parts of the country.
